How the FAST GPA and CGPA Formula Actually Works

A lot of students wonder: how do I calculate my GPA at FAST University? It is easier than it looks. The whole thing comes down to quality points.

    Quality Points Formula

Quality Points = Grade Points × Credit Hours

GPA and CGPA Formula (Official FAST-NU Method)

GPA or CGPA = Total Quality Points ÷ Total Credit Hours

Pak Student Calc does all of this automatically. You just enter the numbers and click calculate.

Minimum CGPA You Need at FAST-NU for BS, MS and PhD

Every programme at FAST-NU has a minimum CGPA that students must maintain. Going below it can lead to a warning or worse. Here is a simple breakdown:

    BS and BBA Programmes

You need to maintain a minimum CGPA of:

2.00 to stay in good standing

Falling below this puts you at risk of academic probation.

    MBA and MS Programmes

For admission and progression in MS or MBA at FAST-NU:

    Minimum 2.5

CGPA in your undergraduate degree for admission. satisfactory academic performance must continue throughout the programm

    PhD Programmes

To apply for PhD at FAST-NU, you generally need:

3.0 CGPA or higher in MS/MPhil

FAST-NU Warning and Probation System Explained

Your FAST grades affect more than just your transcript. They decide your academic standing at the university. Here is how the official system works, straight from FAST-NU Academic Regulations:

    Good Academic Standing

If your CGPA stays at or above the minimum for your programme, you are in Good Standing. No restrictions. No issues. Keep it up.

    Academic Warning

A warning is issued every semester your CGPA falls below the programme minimum. Here is what happens step by step:Warning count increases by 1 each semester your CGPA is below minimum Warning count resets to 0 when your CGPA recovers 3 Warnings = Admission automatically closed Students under warning cannot register for the next semester without HOD approval Students on warning may be required to repeat passed courses where course GPA was below the programme minimumThis is why Pak Student Calc strongly recommends checking your fast cgpa calculator results every semester. Catching a drop early gives you time to fix it before warnings pile up.

FAST-NU Honours and Awards You Can Earn

Good performance is rewarded too. Here is what you can achieve at FAST-NU:Rector's List: SGPA of 4.00 with at least 30 credit hours in the semester Dean's List: SGPA between 3.50 and 3.99 Cum Laude (at graduation): CGPA 3.60 to 3.74 Magna Cum Laude: CGPA 3.75 to 3.89 Summa Cum Laude: CGPA 3.90 or above Gold, Silver, Bronze Medals (undergraduate only — minimum CGPA 3.00 required to qualify)

    FAST CGPA to Percentage Conversion

Many scholarship applications, job interviews, and government forms ask for your percentage, not your CGPA. The most widely accepted conversion formula in Pakistan, recommended by HEC, is:

    Percentage ≈ CGPA × 25

Example: If your CGPA is 3.5:

    • 3.5 × 25 = 87.5%

The FAST aggregate calculator on Pak Student Calc uses this same HEC-approved method. However, always remember that your official FAST-NU transcript is the final proof of your academic record.
