IBA Karachi follows an absolute grading system under its official IBA Grading Plan (introduced 2010). This means your grade depends on your actual marks, not on a curve. The IBA GPA scale runs from 0.00 to 4.00, fully aligned with HEC Pakistan’s grading framework.

This table comes directly from the IBA Examination Department and the IBA Academic Policy:

Many employers in Pakistan, overseas universities, and government job applications ask for your marks as a percentage. The conversion method accepted under HEC Pakistan guidelines is:

   Percentage ≈ CGPA × 25

Example: A CGPA of 3.5 at IBA Karachi → 3.5 × 25 = 87.5%

This IBA percentage converter is built directly into the calculator. However, for formal use such as foreign university applications, CSS examination forms, or employment verification  always use your official transcript from the IBA Examination Department. The percentage shown here is a widely accepted estimate, not a replacement for official documents.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a good GPA at IBA Karachi?

A GPA of 3.00 or above is considered good at IBA Karachi. A CGPA of 3.5 or higher puts you in an excellent position for the Dean’s List, corporate placements, and overseas university applications. Most top employers visiting IBA Karachi’s campus look for a minimum CGPA of 2.80 to 3.00.

In IBA’s absolute grading system, your grade depends on your actual marks, not on how the rest of the class performs. If you score 85 marks, you get a B+ (3.30 grade points)  regardless of whether others scored higher or lower. This is different from relative grading used in some other universities.

This tool covers both IBA Karachi and provides a Sukkur IBA GPA criteria reference. The GPA formula (quality points ÷ credit hours) is the same for both institutions since both follow the HEC Pakistan 4.0 scale. The grade-to-marks ranges may have slight differences, so always verify with your specific institution’s grading plan for final accuracy.
