The qau grading system is uniquely designed. Unlike the standard 11-grade system used by many other universities, QAU utilizes a 9-grade scale. The most important thing to notice is that there is no “D+” or “C-” grade. This means if your marks drop from a C to a D, your Grade Points drop by a full 1.00 point, which can heavily impact your CGPA.

The qau grading system is strict when it comes to maintaining your “Academic Standing.” At the end of each semester, the QAU Controller of Examinations reviews every student’s CGPA.
If your CGPA is 1.0 or more but less than 2.0, you are placed on Probation.
This is a critical part of the grading system in qau. If a student’s CGPA falls below 1.00 at the end of any semester, they are immediately dropped (ceased) from the university without any probation chances.
For post-graduate students at H-9 Islamabad, the stakes are even higher:
Many students search for the “attendance relaxations,” but Quaid-i-Azam University is very firm. To be eligible for the Terminal Examination, you must have at least 80% attendance in each course.
If your attendance is short, the qau grading system does not allow you to take the final exam, leading to an automatic failure in that subject. Only in extreme medical cases (with a death certificate of a kin or a hospital discharge slip) can the Chairperson or Dean grant a maximum 10% relaxation.

Multiply the Grade Points (from the QAU table above) by the Credit Hours of that specific subject.

Add all your Quality Points and divide them by the total Credit Hours taken in that semester.
